Thoughts on Isaiah 40 [Excerpt]

It is my contention that the deeper one understands God’s plan for Israel in the End Times, the clearer the Bible becomes. To illustrate this, I am referring to Isaiah 40, which I memorised as a young Christian – as I shared in my testimony at the beginning of this book. Whilst I never understood it all at the time, now I can recognise more of its true meaning.

You may like to turn to this passage of Scripture and imagine Israel after the harrowing years of the Time of Jacob’s Trouble. We read of her deep need of comfort in the first two verses. Perhaps now we can more fully sympathise with the deep distress of Jerusalem’s traumatised and bereaved survivors. Israel will have been humbled by God in a manner hitherto unthinkable...
