Further Resources
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, “House of Bread.” A suitable birthplace for the One who said, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” Bethlehem was also the area where lambs destined for Temple sacrifices were reared; again, this is a most apt location for His birth.
Preface
This is written for Christians who want to learn Hebrew and who desire to deepen their understanding of the Hebraic background of the New Testament. This teaching is humbly offered to contribute towards “the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
The New Testament contains a treasury of Hebrew thoughts and truths, thinly concealed beneath the so-familiar text. These gems are presented and examined through the medium of 12 beginners’ Hebrew lessons. Each lesson can be approached in one of two ways. They are suitable for those who wish to learn or revise beginner’s Hebrew. Alternatively, the English text can be read and appreciated in its own right (making use of the transliterations), without studying the Hebrew reading component. Whether you are reading this book to build up your knowledge of Biblical or modern Hebrew, or to inspire you in poetry, song, or craft activities, may you be blessed!
